In collaboration with a France Telecom team developing a new system which aims to generate an environment allowing people to create tighter social links.
These links could be between close friends, relatives, communities of shared interest (such as hobby groups etc.) and people who met both on the Internet and in real life.
The group of people I've chose to design for is a local community based in Hackney, East London. Broadway Market is a vibrant place where people have a strong feeling as a community.
But since Hackney Council 'proposals' to regenerate the area, the neighbourhood has had serious problems. Hackney Council has had questionable manners in the selling of some properties. Café Francesca and Spirit's shop were evicted without giving them any option to keep their business and homes. The Council sold them for less than the tenants were willing to pay. But people reacted and started to fight against these injustices. They reoccupied the Café Francesca for 2 months till they were again evicted on 23rd February 2006.
My design proposal aimed to help that community to communicate and organize much better. Help them to easily share their thoughts, share their life.
